Trevor Hudgins' leaner as time expired at Bearcat Arena on February 20 gave Northwest a 77-76 win over Missouri Southern and the MIAA regular season title.
John Coffey's detailed account of the evening's victory earned the long-time voice of the Bearcats recognition of his own.
The Missouri Broadcasters Association awarded Coffey with first place honors for radio play-by-play Tuesday evening.
Coffey, a native of Albany and a Northwest Missouri State University graduate, is in his 35th year as the play-by-play voice of Bearcat athletics. He is also the general manager of KXCV-KRNW, the university's public radio station and flagship radio station for Northwest sports.
